Olomouc is an attractive town in eastern Moravia with a population of just over 100,000, many of them students. It is well worth a day or two to stroll around.

A short distance from the train station you cross the River Morava and already there are signs of the beauty ahead.

This is the top part of the Upper Square with the town hall on the left. Note the impressive clock tower.

Oh well, it was too good to last. Even the cute looking tortoise can’t make up for it. What should have been a pleasant stroll around a square, hundreds of years old becomes a stroll around a 21st Century car park.

The famous astronomical clock at the back of the town hall. No saints in this clock – just a few comrades hard at work.
Practical Information
