I wrote five Rapid Readers as part of a series published by Harcourt Publishing in Oxford. The series is designed to help reluctant readers, giving them simple, colourful texts with a mix of fact and fiction in each title.

Heinemann says: "The Rapid series was identified as 'the very best in British education', and was crowned winner at the 2007 Education Resource Awards held by BESA. It's taking the UK by storm and continues to provide pupils and teachers with outstanding SEN support."

Do yetis exist? Do they live in the mountains of Nepal? Using a 40 word vocabulary, I discuss this fascinating subject. In part two of the book, there is a story about Tom who rides an old skateboard but the wheels keep falling off. What can Tom do to solve this dilemma? Read 'Do You Believe It?' and find out.

Don't Drop It!

This book starts with Tom seeing a tennis star on TV and wants to be a star as well. His tennis racket is old but he has a lot of balls and becomes a juggler. That way he becomes a juggling star on TV. In the second half of the book, the reader can learn how to juggle.

Just The Job!

A look at a variety of jobs, boring jobs, funny jobs and dangerous jobs. Is being a football referee more dangerous than being a crocodile farmer? Tough decision. In the second part of the book, Tom wants to buy a new bike and works for various relatives but doesn't have enough money for the bike. What can he do? Read 'Just The Job!' and find out.

Pedal Power

Pedal Power starts with a harrowing account of a bicycle accident - not for the faint-hearted. In the second half of the book, the reader can read about a variety of bikes and the many uses to which bicycles can be put.

Saving The Day

This title consolidates much of the vocabulary learnt in the previous titles. My contribution is a story about Tom becoming a rugby player when he rugby tackles a thief.
