Purple fringing - chromatic abberation

Here is my best example of purple fringing, part of a shot taken at Prague railway station. Those steel supports should be a dull grey, not psychodelic purple. If you want to understand what purple fringing is, you can read about it on wikipedia.

Purple fringing can easily be corrected using Photoshop, or, as I do, using Photoshop Elements.

Click on Enhance, then Color, then Hue/saturation.

At the top of the dialogue box, change 'Master' to 'Blues'.

Use the eyedropper tool on the left to collect a sample of your purple fringing. (If you don't do this you can lose all the blues giving your image a very washed out appearance).

Once selected, slide the saturation control to the left, and you should see the purple begin to disappear.

Keep sliding until you are happy with the image.

That's it!
