Vranov nad Dyji is a small town in South Moravia. Nothing special about it – except for the fact that there is an amazing château (my favourite in the Czech Republic) perched on the cliffs above the town. Imagine waking up to this view in the morning.

There is a footpath from the town through the forest up to the chateau. This is the great entrance to the chateau grounds.

This is one of two courtyards inside the chateau grounds. A delightful mix of architectural styles showing the long history of the chateau. It has its origins in the 14th Century but much of it is 17th Century Baroque.

The guided tour is well worth taking as you get to see some stunning rooms inside. On the balcony outside the Hall of the Ancestors you can see this neat little sundial with the mini cannon firing when the rays of the sun are concentrated on the gunpowder.

One final shot of the chateau taken from the village. In my opinion the most stunning chateau in the Czech Republic.
