| Thanks to Doris for the visit to the sports restaurant next to the Pacific Ocean. In the picture you can see a very tasty upmarket version of ceviche. One of the most famous Peruvian foods. | ||||
| Breaded chicken with chips and French beans. Peruvian vegetables seem to have more flavour than the same vegetables in other countries. Could it be the soil? The climate, or perhaps just the varieties that the Peruvian farmers grow? | ||||
| I decided to try the budget fare at a local restaurant in Arequipa. Not a luxury hotel but the service was very friendly. First course, fish soup - which tasted much better than it looks. | ||||
| Second course, a fish with some cabbage and rice. Simple but filling. | ||||
| The third course: a lurid red drink (perhaps made with cochineal beetles?) and a small glass of wallpaper paste - probably made from maize and sugar. The whole meal, three courses, cost one dollar. | ||||
