  lake district

I had a few days between a training course and a wedding so where better to go than the Lake District. The first two days were pretty wet but the third day...

trees ...fantastic sunshine. Not what you expect in November in the Lake District. I wore shorts for most of the day.
grasmere Setting off to climb Great Rigg, this is the view from Heron Pike of Rydal water and Grasmere. As with all the pictures, they look better in a larger version. Click on the images to enlarge them.
windemere From the top of Great Rigg, looking back along the ridge that I climbed - with Windermere in the background.
great rig This picture was taken at the top of the glacial valley (the glaciers left about 10,000 years ago though there was still some snow). The scene is a little like Sinai - just a little wetter and greener.
sheep Yes, I know I'm cute. Prince Charles is trying to encourage more people to eat mutton to support upland farmers. Mutton is a very tasty meat and it also means that cute sheep like this can run around for a few years before ending up in the oven. Check out a website called Mutton Renaissance.
