I have produced some new download EFL stories for upper intermediate students who wish to improve their vocabulary - and for teachers who wish to help their upper intermediate students improve their vocabulary. Some of the stories have a number of gaps for the student to fill in. If there is any debate about the correct answer, contact me.

If you like this material you may like to consider buying one, or forty three, of my books. Teachers may like to put a link to this page for the benefit of their pupils.

The free download EFL stories, all as pdf files, are:

A Cowboy and an Indian.New story! Guys who can fix computers are brilliant, aren't they? Read this story and you might change your mind.

The inevitable question. New story! My only story with an Irish flavour which happens to be one of my favourites.

Models A glimpse of what happens when there is a linguistic misunderstanding. Modelling was a comparatively new profession in post communist Czechoslovakia, but Herma Sedlackova was determined to be successful. Duncan Jones had been modelling for years and had produced some pretty impressive displays of first world war battle scenes...

Goat Three hunky American teenagers are out to have the party of their lives in the Egyptian resort of Dahab. Taking a young goat to the mountains for a feast is proof that they are real men.

Julian at school Julian Stronglove is one of Jeremy's favourite characters. Here is Julian at school, questioning the logic of certain well known fairy tales.

Faith Have you ever tried to peek over the hedge of a nudist colony? Here are two boys who are going to try.

Suitable for students

Good for Young Learners, only one page. Do boys and girls understand each other?
Upper Intermediate story. A monologue from an American hitchhiker in Germany.
Upper-Intermediate with a big dilemma. What would you have done? Let me know.
For Advanced students. Warning, this story is not suitable for people under 18.
For Advanced students. A book bottle and candle party. What could be more enjoyable?

For use by teachers in class

For low level students. Read the first part of the story with your students. But don't read the end. Can the students write an ending?
For pre intermediate students. Read the first part of the story with your students. But don't read the end. Can the students write an ending?

The Birthday Party

The Birthday Party. A moving story which tests your advanced students' use of infinitive and ing forms.

Many of my stories have proved very popular with students (and teachers). Choose what you're interested in and download EFL stories that are suitable for you - or your students.
